*** Welcome to the Interactive World of Oracle Media Objects!!! ***
This file contains installation notes and other important information regarding interactive
title "Presenting Oracle Media Objects". Please read this file before attempting to run
"Presenting Oracle Media Objects".
*** Installation ***
To run "Presenting Oracle Media Objects" you must have QuickTime 2.0 and the Sound
Manager 3.0 extensions installed. These extensions are provided in the "Put in System
Folder" folder on this CD-ROM. To install the extensions:
1) If you are running System 7.0 or 7.1 on your Macintosh, drag the "Sound Manager"
extension from the "Put in System Folder" folder on this CD-ROM to your System Folder,
then click "OK" in the dialog that appears. If you are running System 7.5 or later, the
Sound Manager is already built into your system software. If you are unsure of your
system version, select "About This Macintosh..." from the Apple menu.
2) Open the "Extensions" folder in your System Folder. If an extension named
"QuickTime" is present, select it and choose "Get Info" from the File menu. If the version
of QuickTime installed on your machine is 2.0 or later, you do not need to install
QuickTime from this CD-ROM.
3) If you have an earlier version of QuickTime, drag it out of your system folder and onto
your desktop. The system will not allow you to replace or delete this extension until your
machine has been restarted.
4) Drag the "QuickTime" extension from the "Put in System Folder" folder on the CD-
ROM into your "Extensions" folder. If your machine is a Power Macintosh, copy the
"QuickTime™ PowerPlug" extension as well.
5) Restart your machine.
*** Memory Requirements ***
"Presenting Oracle Media Objects" requires 8MB of free memory to run. To check your
available memory, select "About This Macintosh..." from the Apple menu in the Finder. To
free up memory, quit other applications and, if necessary, disable any extensions other than
QuickTime and Sound Manager.
WARNING: "Presenting Oracle Media Objects" may run out of memory on systems with
large displays. Please set your monitor's resolution to 640 by 480 pixels before running the
presentation. Also if you are experiencing memory problems while in the "Exhibition
Hall", it is because some of the applications require a large amount of memory to run
efficiently.
*** Running the Presentation ***
"Presenting Oracle Media Objects" will run in 256 colors, but for best results you should
set your display to thousands of colors (using the Monitors control panel) before starting
the presentation.
Set your machine's volume to a comfortable level using the Sound control panel, then
double-click on the "Presenting Oracle Media Objects" icon
If you have previously installed a version of Oracle Media Objects on your machine,
double-clicking on the "Presenting Oracle Media Objects" icon may launch the previous
version, which may be incompatible with the presentation on this CD-ROM. To avoid this
situation, open the "Presenting OMO ƒ" folder and drag the "Presenting Oracle Media
Objects" icon in this folder onto the "Oracle Media Objects Player" icon to run the
presentation.
To exit from the application, click on the "Exit" button in any navigation screen. To quit
immediately at any point, press command-Q.
*** Hints ***
